Steam Summer Sale Is Sci-Fi Tastic

You’ve wondered, you’ve speculated, and at last it’s finally here – this year’s Steam Summer Sale has kicked off, and it has some great deals on some of our favourite sci fi games!

All the X3 games from Egosoft (including the Superbox) are 50% off, and the latest two, Terran Conflict and Albion Prelude have received minor updates today too. The X series is one of the longest running space sims and a personal favourite of mine, so if it’s passed you by, now is a great time to dip in!

Quite a few 4X strategies up for grabs too. The excellent Star Ruler is outrageously cheap at £3.25, Sword of the Stars II and the Collection featuring its predecessor are 40% off and Sins: Trinity is half price (Rebellion is not on sale, sadly, neither is Endless Space). GalCiv II: Ultimate Edition is also 50% off, and in the non 4x strategy vein, the Supreme Commander series is 33% off, while semi-futuristic Cold War naval strategy Naval War: Arctic Circle is going for £8.99.

Frozen Synapse and the Red DLC are knocked down to half price or better, and recently released tactical manshoot Fray is reduced by 25%. The usual Star Wars packs are there as well, featuring almost all the games (except the X-Wing series, damnit) for a variety of prices.

On the more nuclear side of things, post-apocalyptic shooter Metro 2033  goes down to just over £10, and the Fallout series is going cheap as part of a larger Bethesda deal. Borderlands and all DLC is discounted and so is the Bioshock series, alongside tons of Warhammer 40,000 games including the recent Space Marine.

I have no idea how my poor wallet is going to cope with all this (or yours, for that matter), so I intend to use every ounce of willpower I possess to buy only the two Fallout GOTY packs. I’ll update this post if I come across any more bargain space-deals (there are bound to be plenty that I missed, this is just a cursory glance), and you can always point out bargains in the comments too!
