Legends Of Pegasus Developer Closing Down
Today has been a day of unexpected surprises (don’t ask), and just as I thought things were settling down, I came across some sad news.
Legends of Pegasus developers Novacore have posted an insolvency notice on their website. It’s never nice to see developers out of work and the crew here at PlaySF wish them all sincere best of luck for the future.
I’ve been planning to bring you a review of Legends of Pegasus, but as with the debacle that surrounded Sword Of The Stars II: Lords of Winter, I figured it was best to allow the developer some time to fix some of the (well documented) launch issues before giving it a final verdict. Crash bugs, wonky campaigns and some outright bizarre design decisions left poor old Leg Peg in a sorry state even after a patch or two, and the game’s Steam Community page is littered with statements from angry customers.
As the likelihood of future patches is now effectively zero, I’ll be bringing you a PlaySF post-mortem on what went wrong with Leg Peg next week. Regardless of its problems, the beleaguered 4X had some solid ideas, so let’s raise a glass to the chaps over at Novacore for trying their damnedest to bring us one of the first story-based 4Xs in quite a few years – even if it didn’t work out.

Thanks for sharing this news. Shame, like you said it had potential that could’ve been realized with patching, but alas. :/
Sad to hear. I’d definitely like to see what you come up with on your post-mortem.
One thought though is that after years of silence,we now have an abundance of quality space strategy titles (Sins, Endless Space, etc) so what once was a fertile market for indies is now considerably more competitive.
This is true. There are probably more 4X games than Minecraft clones right now.
I wouldn’t say that. You severely underestimate the sheer avalanche of Minecraft clones out there. If you include PC and XBox live in the equation, there are just tons of them out there.
